2020 U.S. Census: The Changing Of Demographics In Barrington
According to U.S. Census data released last week, the number of residents in the town has grown from 16,310 to 17,153.

BARRINGTON RI ā Barrington's population grew more than 5 percent from 2010 to 2020, according to decennial data released Thursday by the Census Bureau.
The town's population grew from 16,310 to 17,153 for 5.2 percent growth. That trails the 7.4 percent increase in the country, but it's above population growth for the rest of Rhode Island and Bristol County. Rhode Island saw its population grow by about 4.3 percent, while Bristol County grew by about 1.8 percent.
Rhode Island grew to 1.1 million people in 2020, up from about 1.05 million a decade prior.

Last week's 2020 Census data is still somewhat preliminary, with the bureau set to release data on undercounts and overcounts next year. The count also took place amid the COVID-19 pandemic, which may have affected response rates.
