5 Things to Know About This Weekend

Showers to dampen most of weekend; Nayatt School playground project; Memorial Day parade and exercises; Veterans Park cleanup; firefighters host 5K charity road race.

Here are five things you should know about for this Memorial Day weekend in Barrington.

  1. Rain showers are expected through Sunday with temperatures only getting up into the mid 50s on Saturday and Sunday; the rain will leave for Memorial Day on Monday with temperatures reaching about 70 degrees.
  2. Help rebuild the Nayatt School playground today and Saturday from 7 am to 7 pm; breakfast and lunch will be served to all volunteers.
  3. Volunteers from the Barrington Land Conservation Trust will clean up Veterans Memorial Park on Saturday morning from 10 to noon; they’re looking for other volunteers as well.
  4. Barrington Firefighters Local 1774 hosts another 5K Charity Road Race and family fun festival on Sunday morning at the high school starting around 9 am; the 5K is scheduled for 11 am.
  5. Barrington’s annual Memorial Day parade and exercises are Monday morning; the parade starts at 9:30 am at the high school and finishes at Town Hall about an hour later, where a remembrance ceremony will take place.
