Affordable Housing on Trustees' Agenda

The Barrington Housing Board of Trustees meets today at 7 pm in the library.

Barrington’s Housing Board of Trustees meets today, June 18, at 7 pm with affordable housing issues making up the entire agenda. 

A proposed affordable-housing forum in October in Barrington leads the docket; it will include the Town Council and other local boards.

Discussion of the forum will be followed by an update on “fee-in-lieu legislation" in Rhode Island, which would help to mitigate some of the costs to a town for a new development.

Trustees also will hear an update on the Palmer Pointe affordable housing complex proposed for the Sowams Nursery on Sowams Road. An approximate 9-hour public hearing on the 48-unit rental development before the Planning Board came to an end on June 4 after three hours of comment opposing the project by the East Bay Community Development Corporation.
