• Land trust to hold History Walks for 250th anniversary (eastbayri.com) — Barrington residents can join a free series of six History Walks from January through June, starting New Year’s Day on the Hampden Meadows Greenbelt. Led by the Barrington Land Conservation Trust, the walks highlight local Indigenous history and early trade routes, beginning at the Kent Street trailhead and welcoming all ages with advance registration online.

• Frigid ‘Dip in the Bay' will raise money for Barrington nonprofits (eastbayri.com) — Bundle up if you want to kick off 2026 with a plunge at Barrington Beach, where the Barrington Lions Club’s New Year’s Day “Dip in the Bay” will raise money for Tap-In and local Lions scholarships. Organizers suggest a $30 donation, and all are welcome to register online and brave the chilly Narragansett Bay waters at noon.
