Investigate History at Summer Camp
The Barrington Preservation Society museum is holding a 'Summer History Camp' for children ages 8-11 in July.

The Town Museum operated by the Barrington Preservation Society is holding a Summer History Camp for kids ages 8-11. It runs on July 8-11 from 1 to 4 pm each day.
You will look for clues that tell a story about Barrington’s past. Among the questions you might be able to answer:

What did the first Barrington settlers leave behind? Which gravestone is the oldest in Barrington? Did the Town Hall have a prison in the basement at one time?
You can also become an archeologist and find buried treasure. Or turn into a genealogist and put together a family tree.

You will get a chance to meet a musician, an artist and a storyteller. Or you can make your own book, paint a mural or listen to early music.
Learn how a museum puts together exhibits, such as the current exhibit, “KIDS!”, which shows how children lived, learned, worked and played more than 100 years ago.
Where do the objects come from? You can gather up your own collection of objects and make your own personal museum.
The camp will meet in the museum in the lower level of the library in the Peck Center building and outside on the grounds surrounding the library.
There is a $50 fee for preservation society members and a $55 fee for non-members. Fill out the form above to sign up or contact the museum.
