Jewelry Shoplifting Suspect Sought

The Barrington police could use your help in identifying a woman who allegedly stole $5,000 worth of Alex & Ani jewelry from Barrington Books.

A woman reportedly walked out of Barrington Books on Tuesday, May 28, with more than $5,000 worth of Alex & Ani jewelry she did not pay for, according to the Barrington police.

The police could now use your help in trying to identify the shoplifting suspect.

The woman had dark hair and wore black clothing, according to the surveillance video. She allegedly stole 160 pieces of the popular jewelry.

The woman is captured on video surveillance taking the jewelry and placing the pieces into a purse, according to Barrington Police Chief John LaCross. She then is observed leaving the store without paying for the jewelry. 

Anyone with information on the identity of the woman is asked to contact Barrington Det. Benjamin Ferreira at 401-437-3930.

If you want to get a better look at the suspect, there is “really good video surveillance (CD) at Barrington police headquarters” on Federal Road, said the police chief.
