Lillian A. Pontifice, 88, Retired Teacher

Her funeral is today from the Perry-McStay Funeral Home in East Providence.

Lillian A. (Aiello) Pontifice, of Maudsley Avenue, Barrington, died Friday August 9, 2013 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center. She was 88.

She was the wife of the late Joseph J. Pontifice.  Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Angelina (Cicerone) Aiello.

Pontifice was a teacher at Grove Avenue Elementary School before retiring.  She leaves two daughters, Janice Calise, who was also her care giver, and her husband Joseph of Barrington, Judith Higgins and her husband Dennis of Smithfield, two sons, Anthony Pontifice and his partner Kathy Blackmare of Riverside and Joseph Pontifice of Cranston, six grandchildren, Joseph Myers Jr., Jillian Myers, Brian Doyle, Chelsie Higgins, Keri-Ann Lawson and Stefanie Head, seven great-grandchildren, one sister, Olga Sauchelli and one brother, Angelo Aiello. She was the grandmother of the late Christopher Higgins, great-grandmother of the late Donte Perron and sister of the late Edward Aiello, Anna Bernier, Emma Unaitas and Loyola Fox.

Her funeral will be held today at 9 am from the Perry McStay Funeral Home, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in Saint Luke’s Church, 108 Washington Road, Barrington. Burial will be in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Cranston.
