Man, 60, Charged With DUI After His Car Hits Tree

Barrington police found the Fall River man sitting outside his vehicle, which struck a tree off of Lincoln Avenue.

A Fall River man was charged with drunk driving early last Saturday evening, June 22, after his car left Lincoln Avenue and smashed into a tree. He was taken to Rhode Island Hospital by Barrington EMTs with unknown injuries.

Roger A. Hill, 60, was found sitting on the ground outside his car when Barrington patrol officers responded about 6:46 pm. A passer-by reportedly pulled him from his vehicle when he noticed smoke coming from the car, according to Barrington Police Chief John LaCross.

Hill had slurred speech, glossy eyes and other characteristics of an intoxicated driver, said LaCross. He admitted to having had two glasses of wine that afternoon.
