1. Resident spots man with gun hunting in Barrington wildlife preserve (eastbayri.com) — Barrington police and neighboring departments responded after a Sowams Road resident reported a man with a shotgun entering the Johannis Farm Wildlife Preserve, where hunting is prohibited. Officers eventually found a 70-year-old Swansea man and issued a no-trespass order, prompting Barrington Land Conservation Trust leaders to remind residents that hunting is not allowed on any of the trust’s local properties, including Johannis Farm.
   

2. Once an Eagle, always an Eagle (eastbayri.com) — Barrington High School alumni from the Class of 1972 are launching the new Gray Eagles Scholarship to support students who show strong school pride and spirit. Working with the Community Scholarship Fund, the group plans to raise money through donations and alumni gatherings, giving Barrington families another locally rooted scholarship opportunity tied directly to the BHS community.
   

3. Warren Police Log: Officers make DUI arrests, assist in warrant pick-up (eastbayri.com) — A Barrington resident was among several people arrested in Warren last week, facing an alleged DUI charge after a Saturday evening stop. The Warren police log also details other DUI, domestic violence, and warrant arrests, along with fire department responses to alarms, gas odor calls, and minor incidents that did not result in injuries.
   

4. Discover Newport announces six new board members as Gray takes helm (whatsupnewp.com) — Barrington is one of nine coastal communities represented on Discover Newport’s tourism board, which has just named Portsmouth business owner Matthew Gray as its new chair and added six new directors. The organization plans to boost off-season visitation while protecting residents’ quality of life, and is developing a new strategic plan that will shape regional tourism promotion, including for Barrington.
   

5. Boys and Girls High School All-America Teams revealed for Fall 2025 season (soccerwire.com) — A Barrington High School boys’ soccer player, goalkeeper Liam Helfrich, has been named to the United Soccer Coaches 2025 High School All-America Team, putting Barrington on a prestigious national list. The announcement also honors a Mt. Hope defender and a North Kingstown forward from Rhode Island. These players will be recognized at a January ceremony in Philadelphia.
