Police Halt Speeding Drunk Driver

A Riverside man was arraigned in District Court last week for driving drunk after he was pulled over for traveling 68 mph in a 45 mph zone.

A Riverside man, 28, was arraigned on a drunk-driving charge in District Court last Tuesday morning, May 14, after he was pulled over by Barrington police earlier that morning for speeding.

Jason T. Black, of 28 Sherman St., East Providence, was traveling north on Wampanoag Trail in Barrington at 68 mph in a 45-mph zone when a Barrington patrol officer spotted him, according to the police report.

He was pulled over near Primrose Hill Road after his vehicle swerved several times across the fog line, police said.Β

Black reportedly was so inebriated that he didn’t know where he was coming from, and he had difficulty speaking and balancing on both feet, the police said.

He apparently was not too drunk however, to refuse a chemical test to determine his blood-alcohol level, according to the police report.

Black was held overnight at the Barrington police station. He was taken to District Court in Providence to face the charges.
