RI Winter Storm: Barrington Issues Parking Ban

BARRINGTON, RI — When you're done getting your milk and bread to get ready for Saturday's storm, make sure you get your car off the road.

Barrington police issued a town-wide on-street parking ban, starting 11:59 p.m., Friday, until 8 a.m., Monday.

The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning statewide from midnight Saturday until midnight Sunday. Expect extremely dangerous conditions during the height of the storm, with heavy, sustained snowfall and wind gusts up to 65 mph in parts of the state.

The first flakes aren't expected to arrive until after midnight, with the storm picking up overnight and dropping up to four inches by morning. The NWS predicted that the storm will continue throughout the day Saturday, with accumulations up to 18 inches statewide before tapering off by about 10 p.m.
