Ruth G. Hirst, 97, Active Barrington Volunteer

Ruth Galway Hirst, formerly of 147 Bay Spring Ave., Barrington, died on Thursday, May 16, 2013. She was 97.

She was married to the late Heston S. Hirst. They moved to Barrington from Boston in 1944, where they lived the rest of their lives.

Hirst was very active in Barrington in the League of Women Voters, the Republican Women's Club, the Barrington Garden Club, and the West Barrington PTA. She also volunteered for Planned Parenthood of RI for more than 20 years.
