BARRINGTON, RI — Barrington police are asking drivers to take caution when detouring through neighborhoods as Barrington Bridge construction continues into next week. Police reported a heavy back up Thursday morning on County Road.

Police advise to use Sowams Road or New Meadow Road as detours but to "keep in mind these are residential areas with lower speed limits."

The Rhode Island Department of Transportation said the final major underwater construction began earlier than usual on Thursday due to Friday morning's tides. The final construction is expected to be concluded next week from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
