Snow Blamed For Minor Accidents Thursday
The snow seems to be over in Newport, but earlier Thursday morning, slick roads caused problems for the commute.
BARRINGTON, RI—The snow seems to be over in Newport, and before 10 a.m. But earlier Thursday morning, slick roads caused problems for the commute. Barrington police warned about delays near Promenade due to a car into a hydrant. Narragansett police also urged everyone to allow extra time for road conditions, and numerous minor crashes were reported area-wide.
State police spokeswoman Laura Meade Kirk said "the snow started about 3:30 a.m., and we’ve had 15 minor crashes and about a dozen cars off the roads since then. No serious crashes nor injuries reported. The worst conditions were reported in the southern parts of the state, including Route 95, Route 1 and Route 4."

"State police would like to remind people to slow down during adverse weather conditions and allow extra time to get to your destination. Remember to clear ice and snow from your car heading out on the road. Also, allow extra room for plows and sanders to do their jobs."
