St. Andrew's Grad #11 in NBA Draft
Michael Carter-Williams, who led Syracuse University to the Final Four in March, was selected by the Philadelphia 76ers.

Michael Carter-Williams, who attended St. Andrew’s School in Barrington before enrolling at Syracuse University, was selected as the No. 11 pick in Thursday night’s NBA draft.
He was chosen by the Philadelphia 76ers during the event at Barclays Center, the new home of the Brooklyn Nets, and broadcast on ESPN. His entire family was in New York for the draft, according to a report by the Syracuse Orange. His coach at St. Andrew's, Mike Hart, also was on hand for the draft.
Carter-Williams, 21, is a 6-foot, 6-inch, 185-pound point guard from Hamilton, NY, who transferred to St. Andrew’s School from Hamilton High School after his freshman year.

He decided in March he would enter the draft and go pro after his sophomore year at Syracuse.
Heading into the draft, Carter-Williams was described as “one of the more intriguing prospects in an unpredictable draft” by the New York Post.

Carter-Williams, a Celtics fan, was scooped up long before the Celtics’ first round pick at No. 24.
Before Thursday night’s draft, Carter-Williams said at a press conference at the Westin Hotel in New York along with 12 other potential lottery picks on Wednesday that he was not sure he could sleep the night before the draft, an experience he said he was enjoying.
Carter-Williams and Syracuse lost in the Final Four of this year’s March Madness tournament and he was later named an honorable mention All-American.
