BARRINGTON, RI — We all know student athletes who also bring their A-game to other parts of their lives.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. We’re working to let all your neighbors know the individual stories behind the leaderboard.

I’ve coached him in youth football and wrestling

HS football and wrestling

Why do you believe the star student athlete should be recognized?

Tom is the definition of perseverance. He has built his athletic career in football and wrestling on constant improvement on the field and the mat. Improving his skills and of those around him. His leadership skills have led him to becoming a captain. His athletic accomplishments have been recognized by the RIIL for both sports. Most importantly, he has also become a volunteer coach in his limited free time to help kids reach their football dreams. He is truly an incredible example of what an athlete should be today

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star student athlete?

He sets a great example for all the people around him
