Thieves Walk Off With Some Unusual Items from Barrington Home, Boats

Barrington police received a variety of larceny reports in the past 10 days for some unusual items.

You never know what items entice people to steal from each other in Barrington.

Barrington police received a variety of larceny reports last week that included the following thefts:

A brand new Green Works pressure washer still in the box reportedly was swiped from a Fireside Drive home. It was reported on Monday morning, June 17.

A stainless steel engine prop was reported stolen on Tuesday, June 18, by a Connecticut Avenue man who ties up his boat at Lighthouse Marina on Shore Drive. It was taken off the back of a four-stroke Yamaha outboard motor, police said. It is valued at about $400. 

A County Road women also reported on Tuesday morning that assorted jewelry and Armani watches, including two pearl necklaces, and a laptop computer were stolen from her home while she went to the gym to work out. The woman said she was only gone about an hour and when she returned home she found the doors to her house unlocked. She said the doors were locked when she left.

A Promenade Street woman walked into the police station last Thursday evening, June 20, to report that someone walked off with two cast-iron flower pots from her front porch.  They each weigh 60 to 70 pounds, police were told. They are valued at $200.

A radio was reported stolen on Friday morning, June 21, from a boat docked at a home on Riverview Drive. 

Another cast-iron item, a staircase from yard at a home on Nayatt Road, was reported stolen to police on Saturday morning, June 22. 

Barrington Police Chief John LaCross speculated that it was the same thief who stole the cast-iron flower pots from the Promenade Street porch.  Those items are probably destined to be melted down for cash.
