Woman Found in Car's Passenger Seat Charged With DUI
The Brick Pond Drive woman was found by Barrington police on North Lake Drive at around 4 am in a disabled vehicle.

A Barrington woman, 23, was found sitting in the passenger seat of her vehicle last week on North Lake Drive at about 4 am by Barrington police; she was soon charged with driving drunk.
Katherine S. Godfrey, of 4 Brick Pond Drive, apparently drove off the road early Tuesday morning and struck an obstacle that disabled her Volkswagen Jetta. She told a patrol officer she thought she hit a stick in the road.
The car was running and facing west on the wrong side of North Lake Drive, said Barrington Police Chief John LaCross. The undercarriage and front bumper of the vehicle did sustain some damage and it was leaking fluid, said LaCross, although it is not known what the car hit.

Godfrey exhibited the characteristics of an intoxicated driver, including slurred speech and watery eyes, said LaCross. She failed a field sobriety test and then refused to submit to a Breathalyzer test to determine her blood alcohol level.
The woman said she had come from Middle Highway and was on her way home. She begged police officers to drive her home.
