BCWA Mulls Fees for Late Payers
The water utility board is considering 1-percent interest charges on late bills to cover the $40,000 that goes unpaid every year.

After deciding against a plan to charge the owners of rental units when tenants don't pay, the Bristol County Water AuthorityĀ board of directorsĀ is due for a vote on whether to charge 1-percent interest on overdue bills.
The vote is scheduled for Sept. 25, according toĀ EastbayRI.com.
Board members are considering the plan as a way to make up for $30,000 to $40,000 that goes uncollected every year, the website reported.
On Jan. 9, theĀ BCWA board approved an 11-percent rate hikeĀ for fiscal 2014, after initially considering 26 to 27 percent increases over the next five years.
