Bristol Awarded $113K To Plant 238 Trees Around Town

Bristol officials say trees will be planted on public properties and along street rights- of-way in three of the town's priority watersheds.

BRISTOL, RI — The Rhode Island Infrastructure Bank recently awarded Bristol $113,225 to help fund the town’s Urban Forest Municipal Resilience Project.

This project includes the purchase of 238 trees to be planted on public properties and along street rights- of-way in three of the town’s priority watersheds: Tanyard Brook, Mt. Hope Bay, and Silver Creek.

Town officials said trees provide benefits that address environmental impacts, including climate change, stormwater management, air pollutant removal, and mitigating heat islands. The fall plantings are targeted for completion by Dec. 1.
