Bristol Department Of Community Development Relocating

BRISTOL, RI — The Bristol Department of Community Development is relocating from its current location a 9 Court St., town officials said.

On Friday, the department will start moving operations to the Reynolds School on the first floor of 235 High St.

"This move aligns with the town’s long-term goal of consolidating its municipal operations for cost efficiency and facilitating the reuse of the town’s historic decommissioned schools," Town Administrator Steven Contente said in a statement. "We look forward to reopening this building to the public."

The Department of Community Development manages all functions of town government related to planning, zoning, code compliance, historic, building inspection and redevelopment. The department has been located at its Court Street location for over 10 years.

In 2021, the Bristol Town Council approved the relocation of the department to the Reynolds School. Following the department’s move, town officials plan to sell the Court Street property through a public sealed bid process.

The department will close during its move, but residents with community development business can reach staff via email at dwilliamson@bristolri.gov.

The department will reopen at its new location at 8 a.m. Monday. Hours of operation will stay 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
