Bristol Man Helping Others After Winning $35K RI Lottery Prize

BRISTOL, RI — A Bristol man won $35,000 on a scratch ticket he bought, and he plans on using the money to help others, the Rhode Island Lottery said Tuesday.

Steven Heilborn said his win came at a pivotal time, as he's preparing for a missionary trip to Africa. During the trip, Heilborn said he will assist at a medical clinic for the poor.

Following his time in Africa, Heilborn said he will go to West Virginia to continue his mission of helping people by distributing food to those in need in Appalachia.

Rhode Island Lottery officials said Heilborn won playing the Patriots instant game. He purchased his winning ticket at Clements' Marketplace at 1150 Hope St. in Bristol.
