Nature: Blithewold Mansion, Gardens, and Arboretum completes its February vacation program for kids in grades 1 to 4. Day rate $40 members/$45 nonmembers; half-day $25. Space is limited.

Pottery: Make the excursion to Barrington for Paint Your Own Pottery at Art By You at Weirdgirl Creations Pottery Studio on Kent Street. Open 11 am to 5 pm. $8. A portion of this week's profit goes to FAB, "For Anything But... alcohol, drugs, or tobacco."

Karate: Need something a bit more active for the kids? Barrington Public Library hosts a mini-karate class and storytelling today at 10 am. For kids 6 to 12 years old. Please call to register: (401) 247-1920 ext. 4.

Art: RISD Museum offers its family-oriented program "Family See + Sketch," focusing on the work of RISD faculty, today from 2 to 2:45 pm. All materials provided. For ages 6+. Adults $12, kids 5-18 $3, kids under 5 free.

Science: The Providence Children's Museum hosts "Mad Science," billed as a "mind-bending interactive show" on the PCM website. Shows at 11:30 am and 1 and 2 pm. Ask for free tickets at the entrance; $8.50 per person admission.

Outdoors: Roger Williams Park Zoo is open during the winter — and admission is half-price. Adults $7.50, children ages 3 to 12 $4.95, under 3 free.
