RI COVID-19 Rates By Town: Where Bristol, Warren Rank

BRISTOL-WARREN, RI —A year and a half into the coronavirus pandemic in Rhode Island, some communities have seen far higher rates of cases than others.

There are 39 cities and towns in Rhode Island, widely ranging in population density, geography and popularity as a tourist destination. For a better direct comparison, the Rhode Island Department of Health determined how each community did based on the number of cases per 100,000 people. The data dashboard also breaks down the total number of cases, hospitalizations and deaths in each town since March 2020.

To date, Central Falls has had the highest rate of coronavirus cases, at 23,166 per 100,000 people. That's more than 25 percent higher than Providence, which is in second place at 18,325 cases per 100,000 people. Richmond, meanwhile, has had the lowest case rate in the state at just 5,376 per 100,000 people.

Both Bristol and Warren ranked in the middle of cases per 100,000 people, coming in at numbers 18 and 16, respectively. Here's how the numbers break down:

Warren

• Total cases: 1,278
• Cases per 100,000 people: 12,185
• Total hospitalizations: 85
• Hospitalizations per 100,000 people: 810
• Total deaths: 54
• Deaths per 100,000 people: 515
