Bristol was named the safest town in Rhode Island, according to the 2024 State of Safety in America ranking from Safewise.com.

BRISTOL, RI ā Bristol was named the safest town in Rhode Island, according to the 2024 State of Safety in America ranking from Safewise.com.
The report was released last month and named the safest cities in the country based on crime rates and other data from the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
This is the fourth consecutive year Bristol has taken the top slot. In 2021, Bristol was named the safest for the first time after coming in second place behind South Kingstown.

"I want to thank our unwavering town leadership for their continued guidance in concert with the residents of Bristol and most importantly the dedicated men and women of the Bristol Police Department both sworn and civilian support staff for their professionalism and hard work to garner this achievement," Police Chief Kevin Lynch said. "I remain grateful for this and humbled to be the chief of police."

The Ocean State was ranked one of the safest in the country, coming in as the fourth lowest nationwide for violent crime.
Property crime in Rhode Island saw a small increase since last year, but the overall rate was 13.1 incidents per 1,000 residents. That is still well below the nationwide rate of 20.7 incidents per 1,000.
