Food Stamp Fraud Charge Filed Against Charlestown Woman: Cops
The Charlestown woman surrendered to Rhode Island state troopers. police said.
CHARLESTOWN, RI — A Charlestown woman fraudulently used food stamps, police said.
Laura Parente, 34, was charged with giving a false document to a public official, false statement to obtain a replacement public assistance check and fraudulent use of food stamps, according to the Rhode Island State Police.
Parente, a resident of Prosser Trail, surrendered to troopers shortly after 4 p.m. Tuesday, police said.

Parente was arraigned and released with a notice to appear in court, police said.
State police Capt. David Bassignani failed to respond to a request for further information on Parente's case.
