2 Stolen Cars Recovered, 5 Juveniles Arrested After Pursuits: Coventry Cops
The law caught up to the two fleeing vehicles, police said.
COVENTRY, RI — Two stolen cars were recovered and five juveniles arrested following a pair of pursuits, police said.
An "astute officer noticed two vehicles operating in tandem" and without headlights early Wednesday morning on Tiogue Avenue, the Coventry Police Department posted on its Facebook page.
"He quickly pulled out after the vehicles to affect a motor vehicle stop, in which the motorists accelerated in an attempt to elude," the post said. "One of the vehicles matched a previously reported stolen car, just hours earlier in Coventry and a pursuit was engaged."

More squad cars joined the chase and the fleeing cars split up, police said, but they could not outrun the law, as the "vehicles became either abandoned or disabled."
"Although some of the operators and occupants took flight, they were quickly taken into custody by Coventry Police, West Greenwich Police, and RI State Police and their K9 Unit," the post said. "In the end, the other involved vehicle was also confirmed stolen and five juveniles were arrested and subsequently charged with various offenses."
