Head-On Crash In Coventry Hospitalizes 2 People
One of the crash victims had to be airlifted to the hospital after the head-on collision on Arnold Road on Wednesday morning.
COVENTRY, RI — Two people suffered serious injuries after a head-on crash in Coventry on Wednesday morning, according to police.
The crash happened around 9:45 a.m. in the 500th block of Arnold Road. Police said arriving officers found both drivers injured, with one trapped inside her vehicle.
Firefighters extricated the woman from her vehicle, and she was airlifted to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence by a Lifestar helicopter with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries, police said. The second driver was taken to Rhode Island Hospital, also with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. Police said there were no other occupants in either vehicle.

Police said several witnesses reported one vehicle drifted over the double yellow line into the opposite lane, causing the collision. There were no indications of impairment on scene, according to police.
Arnold Road was closed in both directions in the area of Crestwood Drive for a few hours, but has since reopened.
