22 Dogs Up For Adoption, All Surrendered To Coventry Animal Control

Coventry Animal Control said the dogs were all living under one roof in unsanitary condtions.

COVENTRY, RI — Twenty-two dogs have been surrendered to Coventry Animal Control and are now up for adoption, police said Wednesday.

At 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, Coventry Animal Control and police were called to a home on Plainfield Pike to conduct a well-being check on several dogs.

Animal control officers got in touch with the owner, and due to the unsanitary living conditions, the owner agreed to surrender 22 dogs to Coventry Animal Control, police said. Police said the case remains under investigation.

Animal control will be adopting out all dogs. The dogs range in age and are Chinese crested and chihuahua mixes.

Police said all dogs have been examined by a veterinarian and appear in relatively good health. The cost of adoption will be their current medical expenses and a deposit to spay or neuter the dog.

Animal control is taking applications. To apply, visit Coventry Animal Control at 1666 Flat River Road. Animal Control is open this week from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.
