5 Coventry Nonprofits To Support This Holiday Season

COVENTRY, RI — If you’re like many of your Coventry neighbors, you may spend a good part of the holiday season with your credit card in hand buying gifts for family and friends. Coming up soon is a chance to give back to the local community.

Giving Tuesday, which in 2024 falls on Dec. 3, is a day dedicated to supporting nonprofit and community groups. Since 2012, nonprofits worldwide have used the Tuesday after Thanksgiving to galvanize fundraising, rally volunteers and add momentum to their causes.

Maintaining funding is a constant challenge for many nonprofits that fill gaps and meet other needs in the Coventry area.

Here are five local nonprofits to consider getting behind on Giving Tuesday:

  1. Keeping Kids Fishing: This nonprofit provides children and teens with fishing education and gear.
  2. Mae Organization for the Homeless: A local organization that works to make the lives of homeless Rhode Islanders better.
  3. Comprehensive Community Action Program (CCAP) — CCAP is committed to addressing poverty and assisting those in need. Their professional staff offers a diverse range of services aimed at providing immediate support and empowering individuals to achieve greater self-sufficiency. Coventry Public Library Foundation— The Coventry Public Library Foundation’s primary goal is to provide Coventry with an updated and expanded library facility that can meet both current and future community needs. The foundation raises funds through annual fundraising events and tax-deductible donations.   5. Boys & Girls Club of Warwick — While not located directly in Coventry, the Boys & Girls Club of Warwick serves children and teens from Coventry and the surrounding areas.
