COVENTRY, RI — The Coventry Public Works Department has made changes to its bulk pickup and yard waste policies during coronavirus-related shutdowns. The transfer station will be open for dropoff and pickups will be held on certain dates to allow residents to get rid of their extra waste.

At the beginning of the crisis, the town announced the transfer station would be closed until further notice to reduce face-to-face contact with employees, while yard waste would not be collected at the curb to allow drivers more time to handle adjusted trash and recycling pickup schedules.

On Monday, the department said that a special schedule has been set up for residents to drop off yard waste, bulky items and/or extra trash and recycling at the transfer station, or to have yard waste collected at the curb. On May 2, 9, 16, 23 and June 6, 13, 20 and 27, the transfer station will be open from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. Sanitation trucks will collect yard waste at the curb on these dates, and dump pass fees will be waived for Coventry residents on these days.
