CCFD Firefighters Request Declaratory Relief
Attorneys representing the firefighters' union, Local 3372, have submitted a request on its behalf asking the Court to validate the current firefighter contract.
Â
Counsel for the Central Coventry Professional Firefighters' union, Local 3372, submitted to Kent County Superior Court on Thursday a request for Declaratory Relief. The attached document contains the union's request that the Court declare the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), between the firefighters and Central Coventry Fire District as valid and enforceable.
The request states that since the Court has jurisdiction to mediate any claims that may be filed by the firefighters in the event that the district breaches the CBA, the court will have to first determine the validity of the contract.

"The firefighters submit that it is within the best interest of the estate for the Court to make a determination as to the validity of the CBA as soon as possible," reads the letter submitted by the union's attorneys, Marc Gursky and Elizabeth Wiens. "This will enable all parties, including the Master and the voters, to make informed decisions about the future of the district."
The letter also requests that the matter be assigned for briefing and hearing at the Court's earliest convenience.
