Coventry: Animal Cruelty Suspect Surrenders, Dog Up For Adoption
Luis Rosa, 24, turned himself in Thursday, police said. The pets are recovering after he allegedly abandoned them.

COVENTRY, RI — The man accused of abandoning a dog and a turtle in a mobile home has surrendered to Coventry police. Luis Rosa, 24, was arrested Thursday, police said. He was arraigned in Kent County District Court and released on $5,000 personal recognizance.
Meanwhile, the abandoned pets are doing well. Elsa, the turtle, is continuing to recover after she was found stuck inside a frozen tank. And Ana, the dog, is ready to be adopted. Ana is a small, 10-month-old mixed- breed hound. Anyone interested in adopting her should call 401-822-9106 or e-mail the animal control officer at cpdaco@coventryri.org. Police said people can also go in person between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. to the shelter at 1666 Flat River Road, but they will have to complete an adoption application and wait for it to be processed.
