Coventry Author To Read At The Bean Barn

COVENTRY, RI - From The Bean Barn: Have you ever wondered what it would be like if a washed up 80s metal band moved in to your house? It happens to Brenda and Tim Dunkirk in Beside the Music, a novel by BJ Knapp.

BJ Knapp, Rhode Island based author, will be reading her favorite scenes from Beside the Music at The Bean Barn in Coventry, on Saturday June 16, 2018 at 7 PM.

Beside the Music follows the story of Brenda and Tim Dunkirk, who reside in the fictitious town of Westwood, RI, as they host 80s metal sensation Hydra and their entourage in their home while the band records their comeback album. Brenda imagines late night lyric writing sessions at her kitchen table and quickly gets swept up in the glamour of being the rock and roll muse for songwriter and bassist Keith Kutter. What she never imagined was the crowd of screaming fans on her front lawn, and her husband Tim leaving her and Hydra’s chaos, her snooty meddling mother in law showing up at the worst possible moments, and the threat of getting fired at work. Brenda must choose, can she be one man’s wife and another man’s muse?

As a former college radio station DJ, BJ was inspired to write this book after asking herself “Whatever
happened to all those 80’s rock stars and one-hit wonders?” Her writing career has contributions to RI Fit Magazine. But her prouder achievements are her original angry chick rock songs, usually about bad

BJ resides in Rhode Island with her husband, Todd, and dogs Nemo and Potter. She is an avid sailor and
scuba diver, and also enjoys pretty much any outdoor activity such as hiking and geocaching as well. She has also single-handedly orchestrated hundreds of failed attempts at cooking.
