COVENTRY, RI—Police are searching for a woman who allegedly robbed the Citizen’s Bank on Tiogue Avenue on Saturday morning—and they believe it might be woman who was just released on bail for allegedly robbing a bank in Cranston.

Coventry Police Chief Col. John MacDonald said that the department got a call from the bank at around 12:17 p.m. reporting that a female suspect had just robbed the bank.

Police said the woman entered the bank wearing a head covering and passed a note demanding cash. She fled the bank with a small amount of money, police said, and was seen by witnesses running into a wooded area behind the bank and later entering the passenger side of a white coupe, police said.

The car was last seen driving toward Arnold Road in Coventry, police said.

Police said Shannon Sampson, 27, of Johnston, is a person of interest and wanted for questioning.

Sampson was arrested on Feb. 10 by Cranston and Attleboro police after she allegedly committed a similar robbery at a Santander Bank on Reservoir Avenue in Cranston the day before. In that robbery, she reportedly fled with about $10,000.

Sampson was released on bail on Feb. 10 after being arraigned in Sixth Division District Court, according to court records.

Cranston police released pictures of the suspect in that case and got a tip shortly afterwards that she was staying at the Attleboro Motor Inn.

Police said they found her on a bed lying next to “crisp $100 bills.”

Coventry police released pictures of the suspect on Saturday and said that the Federal Bureau of Investigation is investigating the robbery along with Coventry police.

Sampson might be a passenger in a white 2013 Hyundai with Rhode Island registration No. RB-377.

If you see Sampson, do not approach her or the vehicle. Call 911.
