Coventry Council Approves New Police Chief

COVENTRY, RI — The Coventry Town Council unanimously approved the promotion of Benjamin Witt to police chief.

"Chief Witt brings with him years of dedicated service, strong leadership skills, and a deep commitment to both the officers of the department and the residents of Coventry," the Coventry Police Department posted on its Facebook page Friday.

The council approved of Witt during its Thursday night meeting, according to the post.

"We are excited to move forward under his leadership and look forward to working together to make Coventry an even stronger, safer community for everyone," the post said.
