Coventry Police Release Names Of Colonial Road Fire Victims

Edward Lorenzen, 47, and his 4-year-old son, Michael, died Friday night when a fire swept through their home. Two children escaped.

COVENTRY, RI — Police are firefighters are calling 12-year-old Zacheri Lorenzen a hero for his actions Friday night. Zacheri rescued his sister, 2, from the fire that engulfed their Colonial Road home. But his father and little brother did not survive. Edward Lorenzen, 47, and his 4-year-old son, Michael Lorenzen, died.

Police said Saturday the fire investigation is ongoing.

"Investigators have focused on evidence that remains on scene, and completed the initial on scene investigation late this afternoon," Lt. Matthew Blair said.. The Coventry Police Department, Central Coventry Fire Department, State Fire Marshal, Hopkins Hill Fire Department, state police and the state medical examiner's office are involved. Police released these photographs of Edward, Michael and Zacheri Lorenzen at the family's request. The family has asked for privacy, police added.
