Coventry Police Welcome New Comfort Dog To The Force
K-9 Jovie, a black Labrador puppy, is the newest member of the Coventry Police Department.

COVENTRY, RI — The Coventry Police Department last week welcomed a new comfort dog to its ranks.
K-9 Jovie, a black Labrador puppy, came from Boonefield Labradors, dog breeders who have been donating comfort dogs to police departments across New England for several years. Jovie started training for her comfort certification with her handler, Coventry School Resource Officer Jadine Ferri, on Tuesday.
"A big thank you to Town Manager Daniel Parrillo, the Coventry Town Council and Chief Heise for making this addition to the PD happen," Coventry police said in a Facebook post. "A very special thank you to our generous donors, Phil Casacalenda, Wanda McLaughlin, Ernie Nardolillo and Dog House Plus! Without all of you this would not be possible! We look forward to having you all meet Jovie at the various events in town!"
