Democratic Town Committee Endorses Florio for Dist. 4 School Committee

A Special Election will be held on June 4, 2013 to choose a District 4 School Committee representative.

 

The Coventry Democratic Town Committee is endorsing David Florio to fill the vacancy on the School Committee in District 4. The seat was vacated with the recent passing of Nancy Sprengelmeyer.

“David Florio has been an active member in the community for a long time," said Committee Chairman Frank Hyde. "He has resided in Coventry for over 30 years and was a founding member on the Juvenile Hearing board when it was formed in the late 1990s.”

Hyde added, “Dave Florio was active in the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) throughout the period his son was in school and he served on the School Building Committee from 2000 to 2005. He was also involved with youth sports leagues including Coventry Rams Football, Coventry Baseball and Soccer.”

“Mr. Florio is a well-educated professional with a Master’s Degree in Counseling. He has always been active in the Town of Coventry, chairing this Committee for over ten years and currently serving on the Planning Commission."

“The committee recognized all of his accomplishments and his commitment to the Town as a whole," Hyde continued. "David Florio will strive to provide a quality education in buildings conducive for learning recognizing both the social and economic benefits to the Town of Coventry. At the same time he will be looking for efficiencies in spending and a way to keep it affordable for the taxpayers.”
