Driver Killed After Tractor-Trailer Rear-Ends Car On I-95 South

The car was stopped in the breakdown lane when the box truck rear-ended it.

WARWICK, RI — One person was killed in a crash on Interstate 95 South early Monday morning. The victim was identified as Patrick Albin, 54, of Fall River, Massachusetts.

The crash happened near Exit 10 B at Route 117 around 5 a.m., according to state police, when a tractor-trailer crashed into a 2002 Toyota Corolla. The victim was the driver of the smaller vehicle.

According to police, the car was stopped in the breakdown lane, and was rear-ended by the truck. The truck driver was not injured in the crash.

The crash blocked two lanes of the highway, causing severe traffic backups. All lanes were clear by 9 a.m., according to the Rhode Island Department of Transportation.
