Ex-NBA Player Chris Herren Coming To Coventry High To Talk Addiction

COVENTRY, RI — A former Boston Celtic and Rhode Island resident will speak at Coventry High School on Monday to share his journey navigating drug and alcohol addiction, recovering and trying to make a difference in others' lives.
Chris Herren, along with Coventry police's Substance Abuse Task Force, will hold the event at 6 p.m. in the gymnasium. The event is free.
Herren, who played for the Celtics during the 2000-01 season, founded the Herren Project in 2011, three years after entering long-term recovery for addiction. It's since become a national addiction nonprofit based in Tiverton.
