Community Garden Help: The Coventry Community Garden, organized and is overseen by longtime resident Gail Tatangelo. With a new planting season upon us, volunteers are greatly needed to assist with planting, weeding, watering and harvesting now and through the summer months. If you're interested in volunteering time to the garden that provides healthy food to Coventry residents in need, email Gail at gail660@verizon.net. Volunteers are needed today and tomorrow at 9 a.m. for several hours to plant peas, cabbage and spinach. Feel free to stop by the garden across from Town Hall to lend a hand!
Youth Fishing Derby Registration: Register today for Coventry's Annual Fishing Derby scheduled for this Wednesday! The bus will leave the Community Center at 5:30 a.m. and return at 9 a.m. Kids ages 9-16 are eligible (ages 15-16 must have valid fishing license). Prizes will be given for largest fish, most fish and farthest cast. You must bring your own pole, bait and tackle. Cost is $2 per participant.

Historic RI Preservation Conference: Today is the last day to register for the "Preservation Works" Conference on April 27 from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Church of St. John (20 Washington St., Arctic). The event is presented by the RI Historical Preservation & Heritage Commission and will feature a wide range of tours, lectures and workshops that showcase the best of the historic Pawtuxet River Valley. Tours by bus, bicycle and foot explore historic places in Coventry, Cranston, Scituate, Warwick and West Warwick. A registration fee of $40 includes all activities plus morning coffee, lunch and a closing reception. To pre-register, call 732-1009 or visit www.preservation.ri.gov/conference.

Men's Club Steak Fry: Reserve your spot today for Friday's Steak Fry and Chicken (or Fish) Dinner at the Coventry Men's Club! The dinner will be served on April 19 at 7 p.m., followed by live music. Steak is $12.99 per person, chicken or fish, $10.99. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 385-3536.
