Thank You, Teachers! Today is Teacher Appreciation Day and several Coventry schools are holding various luncheons and celebrations to show their gratitude to the district's educators. Paine Preservation Picnic: On May 11 from 12-2 p.m., the Western RI Civic Historical Society will host a picnic at the Paine House (7 Station St.), featuring the introduction of a new project that focuses on the health and well-being of the Coventry community. Free tours of the historic Paine House will also be available. RSVP by May 8 at 822-5356.

Fagan Door Scholarship: For the first time ever, Fagan Door will be awarding two deserving Coventry High School seniors each a $500 scholarship based on academic and extracurricular accomplishment. Applications must be submitted by May 31. Click here for more information or to view an application.
Plan Ahead - Raid on Spell Hall: The first living history battle reenactment will be held this weekend (May 11 and 12) at the Nathanael Greene Homestead (Spell Hall), located at 50 Taft St. Admission will be $6 for adults, $4 for children and seniors. Click here for all the details.Â
Plan Ahead - Ghost Hunting Presentation: Register today for RISEUP founder Ken DeCosta's free presentation, "Ghost Hunting in the 21st Century: How did we get here?", hosted by the Coventry Public Library on May 9 at 7 p.m.! During his presentation, Ken will give you a look into the past, present and future of the fascinating field of paranormal study. From the earliest days of the Spiritualist movement of the 1800s to modern-day usage of technology, investigators have sought proof of the supernatural. Are we any closer to an answer?
