COVENTRY, RI — Flooding caused by rain Tuesday into Wednesday has caused the closure of several roads in Coventry, according to police.

Coventry police said the following streets are closed, as of Wednesday morning:

  • Flat River Road at Industrial Drive
  • Read Avenue at Gadoury Avenue
  • Old North Road at Deerfield Road
  • Alaska Street at Tiogue Avenue
  • Station Street near Highwood Drive
  • Arnold Road near New London Turnpike
  • Shippe Cove Road
  • Washington Street at Laurel Avenue
  • Main Street at Trestle underpass
  • Tiogue Avenue at Hopkins Hill Road
  • Tiogue Avenue at Jefferson Drive
  • Main Street at Main Street Wine and Spirits.

"Most are not passable and conditions getting worse, not better," Coventry police said in a Facebook post. "Seek alternate routes."

A flood warning is in effect for central Rhode Island until 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, and until Friday for the southwestern part of the state, according to the Rhode Island Emergency Management Agency.
