Masks Optional In Coventry Schools After Statewide Mandate Ends
Anyone identified as a close contact of a positive COVID-19 case will be asked to wear a mask for 10 days.

COVENTRY, RI — Masks are no longer required in Coventry schools or buses after the statewide mask mandate expired on Friday.
The district is still following quarantine and isolation guidelines from the Rhode Island Department of Health. Anyone who tests positive for COVID-19 will be required to isolate at home for at least five days, until they are symptom and fever free. After returning to school, the student or staff member will be strongly encouraged to wear a well-fitting mask for days six through 10. While the district will no longer conduct contact tracing, it will send a notification of an outbreak if needed. Anyone identified as a close contact of a positive case will be asked to wear a mask for at least 10 days.
All eligible students and staff are urged to get a COVID-19 vaccine and booster if they have not yet done so. In addition, the district will continue other mitigation strategies, including proper ventilation in classrooms and buses and encouraging proper hand hygiene.
