Miss Rhode Island 2015 Contestants Crowned in East Greenwich

Miss Rhode Island is May 20th at RIC

(East Greenwich, Rhode Island) – The contestants for the 2015 Miss Rhode Island Scholarship Pageant were recently crowned at a Sunday breakfast at the East Greenwich Yacht Club. The pageant stresses the goals of service, scholarship, style, and success!

The contestants are, from left to right, (top row): Miss Capital City, Chelsey Renehan; Miss West Warwick, Alexandra Curtis; Miss Providence, Victoria Cuartas; Miss Rhode Island College Bryanna Cox; Miss Westerly Gina Colao; Miss Washington County, Christina Keller; Miss Cranston, Odemi Pessu; Miss Newport, Emily Cortez; (front row): Miss South County, Nicolette Green; Miss Providence County, Ava Delasanta; Miss Rhode Island 2014 Ivy DePew; Miss East Providence, Paige Lavallee; Miss Bryant University, Shruti Kansara; (Miss Southern Rhode Island, Christine Kong; and Miss Coventry Emily Cronin are not pictured).

Crowning ceremonies were also held for Miss Rhode Island’s Outstanding Teen, with contestants: Allison Dupras, East Bay; Maria Iannotti, Narragansett; Catarina Girardi, Cranston; and, Tiffany Brooks, Bristol-Warren.

All of the contestants participated in a clean-up of the State House lawn on Saturday April 18 as part of their community service commitment. The young women are raising funds for the Children’s Miracle Network www.ChildrensMiracleNetworkHospitals.org, which benefits Hasbro Children’s Hospital in Providence.

Some of the young women will also participate in the “Here’s to the Ladies: Runway to Fashion” show sponsored by the East Greenwich Chamber of Commerce on Thursday April 30, 6 p.m. at Quidnessett Country Club. www.EastGreenwichChamber.com. Hair and make-up is being provided by Shimmer Salon and Day Spa in East Greenwich, www.ShimmerSalonAndDaySpa.com. Emceeing the show is local fitness trainer Eddie Brandt of Fabulous Fitness, www.FabFitnessRI.com.
