Pharmacy Tech Suspended for Concealing, Consuming Prescription Drugs

The RI Department of Health ordered this week the immediate and indefinite suspension of the pharmacy technician license for Lisa Clark, a pharmacy technician at Wal-Mart, located at 650 Centre of New England Blvd. in Coventry.
The suspension comes after Clark admitted to diverting controlled substances from approximately October of 2012 to March of 2013 while employed at the Wal-Mart pharmacy.Â

According to a suspension summary submitted by Dept. of Health Director Michael Fine, records indicate a loss of approximately 1,116 tablets of various strengths of the schedule III and IV controlled substances Hydrocodone/Acetaminophen ("Vicodin") and Alprazolam ("Xanax") during the time period in question. In addition, Clark was observed on video surveillance concealing and consuming these substances while on duty and practicing in the pharmacy on or about March 10, 2013
In the summary suspension notice signed by Fine on June 17, he stated that "the continuation of Clark's pharmacy technician license constitutes an imminent threat to the health, welfare and safety of the public".Â

On Wednesday, Clark was served with the notice of suspension that will continue indefinitely pending further order of the Dept. of Health.
