Police Searching House were Man Barricaded Himself for 36 Hours
The standoff in Coventry is over, but the investigation continues.

COVENTRY, RI—The 36-hour standoff outside a house on Raccoon Run Road in Coventry is over, but police continue to investigate and are searching the house where Larry Lachance barricaded himself.
Coventry Police Chief Col. John MacDonald said detectives, state police bomb technicians and the state Fire Marshal's Office are searching the house at 202 Raccoon Run Road "for evidence relating to charges [that] will be brought against Lachance in Kent County District Court on Monday."
Lachance is facing charges of assault with a deadly weapon, firing in a compact area, domestic disorderly conduct and domestic failure to relinquish a telephone.

Lachance, 60, is being held without bail at the Adult Correctional Institutions in Cranston on a prior bench warrant for failing to appear for arraignment.
Police originally responded to the house on Wednesdayfor a domestic incident. Lachance refused to come out, sparking the standoff.

Lachance reportedly fired a gun inside the house during the standoff. Reports of loud booms were caused by police in an effort to bust open a door, police said.
