Rep. Morgan, Sen. Kettle File Motion to Release Fire Contingency Plans

A hearing on the Motion to Release Fire Department Contingency Plans will be held on Monday at 1 p.m. in Courtroom 4D of Kent County Superior Court.

On Friday morning, Representative Patricia Morgan and Senator Nick Kettle filed a motion requesting that the Court immediately release or order Special Master Richard Land to release all Central Coventry Fire District "contingency plans" submitted by neighboring fire districts.

They request that such plans be publicly posted on Land's website, www.crfllp.com.

The plans would illustrate possible courses of action by Coventry's remaining fire districts - Hopkins Hill, Anthony (Coventry) and Western Coventry, in the event that the Central Coventry Fire District ceases to operate.

Land stated in his revised letter to residents, mailed on Mar. 21, that the plans "would not provide for a seamless transition to the same level of service immediately and may require statutory changes". Land also stated that it may take 6-8 months to fully implement any contingency plan, but that the remaining districts will continue to provide automatic aid and also utilize the Southern New England Mutual Aid Agreement to provide services to Central Coventry residents.

A public notice along with with the Motion to Release is attached to this article in PDF form.
