Rhode Island Woman Dies In Rollover Crash On Interstate 95 In West Warwick

Beatrice Batista, 25, of Central Falls, died after her car rolled over and struck a tree, Rhode Island State Police said.

WEST WARWICK, RI — A Central Falls woman died in a crash after Rhode Island State Police said she lost control on Interstate 95 and struck a tree on Monday.

Around 1:42 a.m., state police and West Warwick fire officials were called to a crash on I-95 northbound. State police said the crash happened about 1,700 feet south of Exit 24 to Route 2.

A witness told state troopers the woman was driving in the right lane and lost control, possibly because of wet road conditions.

State police said the vehicle swerved onto the shoulder of the road, and then it rolled over and struck a tree.

State police identified the driver as Beatrice Batista, 25. She was wearing her seatbelt, state police said. Batista was ruled dead at the scene, state police said.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
